Chapter 6

The Clash

Thus far, this school year has been great. Our teacher Mrs. Charles is wonderful. We used our study team and extra help from Mrs. Charles to get through our class work, homework and projects. We are enjoying our clubs, especially the business club. The business club is so much fun. Even our parents like it!

Our friend Sungi Bear’s parents help us a lot. His mom is an accountant and a writer and his dad is a business owner. Another one of our best friends, Elijah, his parents help us too. Elijah is so cool and so are his parents. His mom talks to us a lot about friendship and the importance of it. We truly appreciate all of our friends, their parents, our teacher, our Principal and our Vice Principal. They all really care about us a lot!

“Do they have a book similar to ours?” asked Samya.

“They sure do,” I told Samya and Lailah. “And now I am telling you the readers too. So go get it and learn more about our other best friends.”

We are now into December; that’s three months into school and half way through our clubs. Tomorrow will be Samya’s 8th basketball game and right now they have a 6-1 record. Lailah cheers for Samya’s basketball team, so this will be her 8th game as well. And tomorrow will be my 2nd concert with 2 more concerts to go. March 7th is the last day of the clubs. That marks the day of my last concert, our biggest concert and Samya and Lailah’s last game, the championship game.

It is 3pm and we have a business club meeting today after school.

“Good afternoon boys and girls,” smiled Mrs. Brown.

At this point in our club, we have learned how to make a business plan, marketing plan, floor plan (if we plan on having a physical store) and discussed some of our products and services. Next we will continue discussing our products and services. We need to start creating some samples of our products and marketing material for our store’s grand opening project. Our grand opening project date is scheduled for March 15th and I can’t wait.

“I hope everyone is as excited as I am with the progress you all have made,” said Mrs. Brown. “On another note, we have a slight change of schedule,” she added. “Initially, our grand opening project date was scheduled for March 15th, but due to issues beyond my control, we must change it to March 7th.”

“March 7th?” repeated Samya with a slight yell, “but that is the day of our championship basketball game!”

“And I have my final concert on March 7th! We have to change it back to March 15th, please Mrs. Brown,” I begged.

“I am sorry boys and girls, but my hands are tied. As you know the project is to be judged and graded by the principal, the art teacher and myself,” Mrs. Brown reminded us. “I am very sorry for any incontinence this may have caused any of you, but remember, life is about prioritizing and making tough decisions.
